About

Judie L. Guild is a native Long Islander turned urbanite with an academic background in sociology, particularly political economy, culture, and gender.  She lives in Central Queens, NYC with her spouse (Liam) and two small, free-spirited dogs.  Over the past few years, she has gradually built the foundation of the Humanist Ethical Society of Spirituality.

As a registered marriage officiant and Cleric, she has officiated over 500 ceremonies.  Weddings, vow renewals, and engagements comprised the majority. However, she also presides over baby welcomings, funerals, internments, memorial services, coming of age celebrations, new home blessings, end of pregnancy ceremonies, equinox or solstice celebrations, and any other rite of passage desired.

Most often, Judie travels to your site in the New York Metro Region. Popular choices include public parks, gardens, the beach, waterfront, roof-decks, restaurants, hotels, lofts, private homes, and even reception halls.  As you may easily notice from this blog, which has over 350 entries, she specializes in more intimate affairs.  Most include civil or humanist rites of passage, although she does honor requests for more traditionally spiritual and interfaith ceremonies.

To inquire about availability, please e-mail Judie at NewYorkOfficiant@gmail.com.

Finally, yes, you can entrust the marriage license with Judie.

Judie sometimes receives the “will my marriage be legal” question.  The answer is “yes.”  Her registration number is 77862.  In fact, here are two announcements from the New York Times, which will only print any weddings at which a legally registered officiant presided.

    Hello,

My husband and I had a baby 4 months ago and we would like to have a naming ceremony for her in February. We would like a humanist to preform a simple ceremony maybe just say a few words welcoming our baby into the world.

Would you be able to do this or can you refer someone who would?

    Thank you,
    Carmen
